How To Choose a Water Filter
Choose from our 6 sizes of filter bodies. The charts on our Filter Bodies page provide specifications and recommended size for family size. Add to your shopping cart.
Pick the number and type of filters (ceramic or carbon block) for your filter body. Your filter body will have 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 holes, representing the maximum number of filters that can be installed. You do not need to fill all the holes with filters (we provide plugs for any unused holes). More installed filters = faster filtering of water. NOTE: Prices shown for filters are MAP (minimum advertised price). Most of our selling prices are lower than MAP. To see the amount you will pay, you must add the item to your shopping cart, then View Cart. You can easily delete the item from your cart if you do not want to purchase it.
Which Filter type Should I Buy?
Choosing the right type of filter can be confusing, so please read about the various ceramic and carbon block filters AquaCera has to offer. You have 3 choices. If you want your filter to remove bacteria and living organisms, choose the CeraGravPlus or the AquaMetix. If you have municipal water and want to remove virtually all chemicals (including fluoride, heavy metals and chromium), choose the AquaMetix GB Carbon Block.
CeraGravPlus is our standard filter that compares well with other national brands. It is a .3 micron white ceramic candle that removes 99.99% to 100% of bacteria and also reduces concentrations of most common chemicals. Available in 7" and 9" sizes. This filter is comparable to most other brands of ceramic filters, such as Doulton and Berkefeld. The ceramic exterior removes bacteria and living organisms, while the granular activated carbon inside the filter remove common chemicals such as chlorine and many other chemicals. This filter does not remove significant percentages of fluoride or heavy metals, so if that is important to you, look at our AquaMetix filters.
AquaMetix® candles also remove heavy metals and fluoride. The AquaMetix filter is AquaCera’s latest and greatest achievement. It is essentially a major upgrade from the CeraMetix filters that were introduced only a few years ago. With AquaMetix candles, you no longer have to use add-on filters to remove heavy metals and fluoride. AquaMetix® candles have the same bacterial removal capabilities of our CeraGravPlus ceramic candles, plus they have a solid carbon block core inside the Ceramic shell. The carbon block removes Fluoride, Heavy Metals, aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chloramines, chlorine, cysts, lead, mercury, nickel, radionuclides, silver, tri-halomethanes, VOC's and about 200 more toxic chemicals. Available in 7" and 9" sizes. We also carry the 7” Imperial size AquaMetix (fatter candle).
AquaMetix™GB 6” Carbon Block for use with Municipal Water Supply. If you have municipal water (city water), this Carbon Block filter is a good choice. Municipal water supplies are heavily chlorinated and fluoridated but rarely contain bacteria. Carbon Block filters (without a ceramic shell) are excellent at removing chemicals, plus they process water 4-8 times faster than ceramic filters. There is one well-known manufacturer that sells a carbon block filter and makes the claim that it also removes bacteria and even viruses. No other manufacturers in the world (of solid carbon block filters) make these claims, as the pore sizes in carbon block filters simply are too large to stop bacteria from getting through.
NOTE: The lab report states that it is for the CeraMetix filter. At the time the report was published, AquaCera's intent was to replace the old CeraMetix with this new filter under the same name. Instead, AquaCera will continue to offer the CeraMetix and they have named the new filter the AquaMetix. So the lab report, though it says CeraMetix, is actually for the AquaMetix.
